EF 16-35 f/2.8 L II USM The updated event shooter's essential comes into its own as everything it should be.

EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 IS USM Contender for sharpest EOS zoom and stabilized available light shooting are reason enough to shoot APS-C alongside full-frame.

EF-S 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 IS USM A feather-light stabilized zoom for $200. What's not to love?

EF 24-70 f/2.8 L USM Venerable indoor and short portrait zoom crying out for a Mark II update to complete the stabilized f/2.8 zoom platform.

EF 24-105 f/4 L IS USM Superb stabilized daylight tourist lens covering the sweet spot of the focal length spectrum.

EF 28-300 f/3.5-5.6 L IS USM 10x is a lot to ask of any zoom, but it's tremendous reach and stabilized image quality make it a compelling choice even with it's heft and equally sizable price for a one-lens daylight solution.

EF-S 55-250 f/4-5.6 IS (RUN, DON'T WALK, TO GET ONE!) Dirt cheap, infinitely useful, and razor sharp, the "Ginsu" of Canon telezooms. It's SO good that Canon won't sell it to the U.S. market with the weak Greenback because it would rob sales from their other higher-priced zooms with actual profit margins.

EF 70-200 f/2.8 L IS USM What many consider to be the "ultimate" telezoom. Fast, sharp, stabilized, and hard to beat for long portrature and capturing available-light action.

EF 70-300 f/4-5.6 IS USM What it may lack in speed, it makes up for in spades in every other regard from its stabilized sharpness and vivid output to its compactness and unprecedented value. A "lower case L".

EF 100-400 f/4.5-5.6 L IS USM The de facto fluorite standard-bearer for stabilized long telezooms and one of the better price/performance values.

Sigma EOS Zoom Lenses


Sigma 12-24 f/4.5-5.6 EX DG HSM Widest option available for the EOS platform with less distortion than even the priciest competitors. Sharp and sure focusing throughout. An interior shooter's dream.

Sigma 18-200 f/3.5-5.6 OS DC A definitive single-lens stabilized zoom soultion that Canon APS-C shooters have been longing for that manages its 11x range with aplomb. A travel must.

Sigma 50-500 f/4-6.3 APO EX DG HSM They don't call her "Bigma" for nuthin'. It more than compensates for anything it lacks in the form of speed or stabilization with razor-sharp output throughout.

Canon EOS Modifiers


Extender EF 1.4x II Well, "when ya gotta, ya gotta". I hate to insert a $200 booster between a $3,000 lens and a $4,000 sensor, but sometimes there's no resort except the last one.

McCarthyism for the 21st Century

The House of Representatives (and various states' attorneys general) have suspended all reason, and the constitution, to give-in to populist cries at a time when we need their leadership most. America will only have itself to blame if it does not remember this "push came to shove" moment when the time comes to exercise its voting rights with respect to the 328 elected leaders who have acted so shamefully.
